Real Estate Associate
A real estate associate is licensed to trade in real estate. Associates are registered with, and employed by or associated with, a brokerage, and are licensed to trade on behalf of this brokerage.

REALTORS® are licensed real estate industry members who agree to uphold a common
Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Practice and are subject to the Canadian Real Estate Association’s rules and regulations. REALTORS® are members of local real estate boards, the Alberta Real Estate Association and the Canadian Real Estate Association.
A real estate broker is authorized to operate a brokerage, and is licensed to trade on behalf of that brokerage. After two years of being licensed, a real estate associate is eligible to become licensed as a real estate broker.
A real estate associate broker has met the educational requirement to become a broker (completion of the
Real Estate Brokers Program) but is licensed as an associate broker rather than a broker. Associate brokers are not authorized to operate a brokerage.
